Tucked away in a quiet hidden
corner of South Delhi, is a small shop where connoisseurs
of filter
coffee have been visiting
since 1962. Customers say they just have to follow their sixth
sense to reach there.
Devans South Indian Coffee & Tea was established in 1962
by Mr. D. Vasudevan, a man from Kerala who pioneered the project
of providing fresh South Indian filter coffee for the people
of Delhi.
Till about the late 80's, coffee drinking in Delhi was restricted
to the small population of South Indian traditionalists, intellectuals
and foreign diplomats. Today his son, Mr. Keshav Dev has dynamically
succeeded in spreading the business of filter coffee among
North Indian who have been basically
tea
drinkers.
We help our satisfied customers
to easily identify and select coffee best suited to their
individual taste. Whether you like your coffee light or mild,
or dark or intense, we have it. Since each of our four categories
has nearly a dozen varieties, you can try a number of coffees
that match the taste profile you like best.
During the 80's, Keshav also diversified into gift packing
of tea, an idea that created a stir. Tea is being gift wrapped
and sold at Duty Free shops and has also made its way to the
cottage emporiums. Gift pouches and bags are now designed
and hand crafted in fabrics using bandhani cotton prints,
Gurjari cotton prints, Zari, Jute, Velvet and many other materials
to give them a traditional Indian look. The tea gift packs
are an ideal gift item that foreigners like to take from India.
